David Duke in Denial

David Duke, former KKK frontman and Louisiana (I'm embarassed) Representative attended Iran's Holocaust forum and proved he's still a buffoon.

In attendance were other Holocaust deniers, some of whom spent time in European jails for their opinions. Now who is the enemy of free speech?
Yes their opinions are absurd, insensitive, and potentially incendiary. But can we honestly outlaw such thoughts & talk? What would be next - ostracize the Dixie Chicks for questioning the President? Oh wait, we already did that.

I'm off to spend Christmas in a little town in Mexico, see you in January!

Did the Holocaust Happen?

Of course it happened, but can the question be posed?

For some, the Holocaust is used as impetus for policies and rhetoric, not unlike GW's use of 9/11 for everything Iraq.

By preventing debate over the Holocaust, or 9/11, you also stifle debate about it's merit with respect to policy, law, and pre-emptive activities.

I liken it to religious discussion in public schools -what is everyone so afraid of?
Will hearing about Mormons make my son give up coffee? Will reading about Islam make my niece a jihadist? Will challenging the Jewish monopoly on the Holocaust make my brother legally liable for listener who later commits a hate crime?

It has morphed from an intellectual discussion to an emotional indulgence, not unlike most current events - oh wait, the Holocaust is not a current event. But anti-Semitism certainly is.

I'm interested in seeing where Ahmadinejad's forum leads, heck, his last foray led to an art contest and Derkaoui Abdellah of Morocco was the finalist:

Missing the Point - Dennis Prager

So Dennis Prager thinks that if you can't swear on the Holy Bible you don't deserve to serve America. What a fraud! He bases his demand upon 200 years of tradition, but misses the point entirely. Think of our court system where people are expected to swear upon the Holy Bible they are telling the truth. Well, yes we have a Judeo-Christian heritage that lent itself to 200 years of bible swearing, but things have changed dramatically. Do you really want someone swearing on a book that is essentially meaningless to them? The idea is to have someone swear on that which they revere, such as a bible - or their mother. The latter being ideal for athiests!

Prager, you are a clown and a perfect symbol for the arrogance of our current administration, you'd rather be seen as stupid than admit an error in rhetoric!

And don't pin your hopes on Pelosi, the shrew, shaking things up either!
