Day of the Dead? ¿Día de los Muertos?

I think it was Pope John Paul that decried the 'culture of death'.

He had no idea what a party it would become, take MS magazines parade of women who've had an abortion. http://www.msmagazine.com/fall2006/abortionmag.asp

Is it a rite of passage? Given women's propensity of late for tattoos and cigarettes - why not?!?

The basic argument is that women should have control over their own bodies, just as they did the night they were impregnated I'm sure. Hindsight empowerment is really the theme.

Although I see a compromise, if doctors are willing to perform abortions should't they also be willing to perform state executions?

Opposite Day!

America just celebrated another Opposite Day!

Today the judicial system announced their verdict that affirmed it was celebrating Opposite Day: Drug traffickers rewarded, and enforcement punished.

http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_4513915

The sad reality of the conviction was they were punished for violating procedure, but sentenced as if they attempted manslaughter.

Tomorrow the federal gov't will mark Opposite Day by reducing Iraq soldier's pay and increasing welfare benefits.

Innocent by Recent Demise!

A federal judge vacated Ken Lay's conviction since Ken's not around to appeal his conviction.

Apparently the death of 1 body carries more weight than the decision of 12 bodies!

None could be happier than his wife, since he's no longer convicted she get's to keep all the stuff!

Would this same judge vacate the conviction if Ken committed suicide and left a note saying: "I'm a lying, stealing bastard and I can't live with myself."

I can see Chavez's Tantrum Coming!!

I just can't help but think of Hugo Chavez in front of a mic, very serious and full of angst as he prepares to speak about being rejected by the UN security council, and when he speaks that comes out sounds like Cartman whining: "Respect my atority!"

But I gotta love him too, he's definitely a man of the people. If this were a campaign poster - I'd vote for him!

But then again, at this point I'd vote for Cartman!

All the World is their Stage

I'm thinking of The Who's song "Won't get fooled again."

How appropriate! At the behest of China & Russia, the Bush administration has removed military strikes as an option against North Korea's alleged nuclear test to gain consensus on sanctions.

Déjà vu!?! Didn't we see this with Iraq and the imaginary WMD's? Now North Korea has supposedly tested a WMD (where's the radiation?) and therefore must be punished. Like Iraq, evidence is irrelevant! Like Saddam, Kim Jong-il is a tyrant, so I guess that justifies military aggression? When will it end - after US invades North Korea & Iran?

Perhaps Bush & Rumsfeld should study Napoleon and a little place called Waterloo.

It's almost campy, hence the spandex & makeup!

Starbucks Expanding Again!

Truth be told I'm not mad at Starbucks, just mad that I bought Diedrich's stock instead! Hey, at least I'm honest.

Border Ballot

With illegal immigration being the only marketable action Republicans have accomlished after 6 years of bankrupting the country, the question still remains: If we build it, will they still come?" Of course they will!

A bit of side irony is Mexico's presidente elect Felipe Calderón calling for "A border that unites two nations allows the free movement of labor but is closed to drugs, guns and criminals" He said this while in Guatemala, a country that Mexico keeps at bay by controlling its shared border with military means.

Mexico claims the new wall will harm relations, truth be told it will harm Mexico's corrupt laissez faire policies, instead of people clamoring over the border they will be clamoring for change, something the ruling families of Mexico aren't ready to allow. I think the wall, if built, will lead to more Chiapas style rebellions.

Cardinal Hastert, I presume?

Seems Hastert embraces the same catch and release policy for perverts that Cardinal Mahoney of Los Angeles embraces. Admittedly 16-17 year old pages aren't 'kids', but rather minors, but that's no excuse for an obvious predator. I wonder, though, had they gone after Foley initially would the dems have accused republicans of a gay witch hunt?

Drinking from the Poisoned Well

Sometimes you REALLY can blame your parents, even Dr. Laura will agree!

I initially lacked credulity until I read their lyrics and heard their music, now the jury's in and these girls are as nutty as their mom. The only thing these Prussian Blue songters are missing is a tatoo.

Speaking of tattoos, this one is better than a 'tramp stamp', this tatto should be standard issue for all paedophiles.
Here's what happened to Anthony Ray Stockelman in prison to remind him of the little girl's life he took in a sick, selfish act.
